Chicago Blackhawks Notes, Quotes 2008-11-15
--Denis Savard, fired as head coach four games into the season, has agreed to join the club's roster of ambassadors. The others are Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and Tony Esposito. Savard will function differently than the others, in that general manager Dale Tallon plans to use him in scouting and also might have him work with some of the young players in the organization.

--Coach Joel Quenneville started Nikolai Khabibulin in back-to-back games for the second time, ending a string of seven games in which he rotated Khabibulin with Cristobal Huet. Quenneville, though, said a general rotation plan is still in effect with each goalie expected to make five starts in the next 10 games.

--The Hawks kicked off a get-out-the-vote campaign for All-Star game nominees Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Brian Campbell with a poster give-away at the St. Louis game, Three more such poster nights will be held in December.

--Quenneville missed practice the day before the game to make a court date in Colorado. He's facing a DUI charge there stemming from a September incident in which he was stopped for driving in the dark without his headlights.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I feel very fortunate to be here. Chicago feels excited about the challenge and opportunity ahead of us. There's no better place to play when we get a building (the United Center) rocking. We want to make sure we use it to our advantage." -- Hawks coach Joel Quenneville on his reception since taking over the Hawks.
