Chicago Blackhawks Notes, Quotes 2008-11-11
--Three Hawks -- Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Brian Campbell -- were on the just-released NHL All-Star ballot, but the omissions were more noteworthy. The ballot made available for online fan voting to determine the starters in the Jan. 25 game in Montreal, didn't include Patrick Sharp, who is among the league leaders in goals and points, and Duncan Keith, the only Hawk to play in last year's All-Star game in Atlanta.

--Coach Joel Quenneville used a goalie rotation for the fifth straight game, but this time it raised eyebrows. He started Cristobal Huet over Nikolai Khabibulin even though Khabibulin has had great results against the Flames. Khabibulin is 19-5-2 all-time vs. Calgary, and the 19 wins is the most he's had against any NHL opponent. Huet was just 1-4-1 vs. Calgary.

--Khabibulin might not be the only Hawk available via a trade. The Ottawa Sun said Martin Havlat could be available, too, as the Hawks work to clear salary cap space.

--The Hawks made good use of their minor league system last season when they moved their American League affiliate from Norfolk to Rockford. Help may not be as available now, as the Rockford IceHogs are struggling with a five-game losing streak. And all of those defeats have come in regulation time.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It doesn't bother me or surprise me. Guys like (Patrick Kane) have the name. I'd vote for him as well. I don't know too many people who would vote for me, but that doesn't affect me." -- C Patrick Sharp, reacting to being left off the All-Star game ballot despite being on pace for a 60-goal, 100-point season.
