Burish makes his point other ways
As the only full-time Blackhawks forward yet to score a goal this season, Adam Burish knows he'd better get on the board soon before his teammates notice.

"I've slipped under the radar a little bit," said Burish, who doesn't have a point after 16 games this season. "Guys were giving it to Jonathan [Toews] and [Dave] Bolland a little bit. If I wait too much longer, I'm sure I'll start catching some grief from the guys."

The difference between Toews, who finally scored in the 12th game of the season, and Bolland, who scored in the 15th, is that they are looked on to provide offense. Burish is more defensive-minded, concentrating on killing penalties, playing defense and adding toughness.

"I'm focused on the things I'm supposed to do and that I think help contribute to this team winning," said Burish, who leads the team with 49 penalty minutes.

"And that's not every night scoring goals. It's doing other things that might not get recognized by a lot of people but the guys in the room I know appreciate."

Still, the winger admitted to "pressing a little bit" in search of that first score.

"I've had a ton of chances," Burish said. "I tell [Patrick] Sharp if I buried half of them I'd have more goals than him (with a team-leading nine).

"I get chances. At least that's the positive thing. I'd be really frustrated if I was just playing poorly and not getting chances, but I get two or three great ones a game."

Burish has vowed not to let the quest for his first goal reach last season's 49 games, when he finally scored Jan. 22 at San Jose.

"I'm not going to wait that long this time," he said. "They'll start coming. Once I get one, I'll be fine."

One-timers: Defenseman Matt Walker and forward Craig Adams were healthy scratches for the Hawks. ... With the crowd of 21,181, the Hawks have sold out all 11 home games this season.
